Running further – Day eight
Well after a resounding disappointment last run, this was a chance to get a bit quicker and y’know what I was lots quicker. On paper I was some two minutes quicker but this was without the howling wind of Saturday. It did feel at times that I was running in treacle, well ok I just felt slow, I was hardly picking up my knees on the run back and I was too stiff and upright, I must have looked a bit of a dodderer. There was a bit when I caught up and passed this lady I see a lot down there, normally I’d just steam past but this time it took some time to catch her and it was only touch and go that I got past and stayed ahead.
Later on the home strait a young man bounded past, I tried to catch him but I was really in no fit shape to do it. I do know though that if I was on form he wouldn’t have been going past so easily if he’d gone past at all. Plotting revenge now, I’ve memorised the back of his head and I’ll be looking out for him in future.
The run was better than I thought though, I was a bit worried that there would be crowds of people out enjoying the sun and although there were a few people there weren’t too many. There was a bit of a strongish wind on the return to Seaton and that might have been keeping some people at home. Still it was bright and a nice night for a run though the weather didn’t keep all of the tossers at home.
