Flushing of the face
So here among all the running and rowing there’s this post “flushing of the face” – you can tell I’m now using Google Adwords to name posts 🙂 don’t worry if that makes no sense just read on – to be more precise facial redness. Well now I’m getting fit and I’m about to start a regime of pills and potions so I was thinking of doing a full body audit. It was going to be a full tip to toe expose and what’s good in Billy land and what’s not so tip top in my tip to toe. Well this morning it just struck me that the thing I really need to work on, as a matter of urgency, is my face and the fact that I can sometimes look like a shiney red farmer on a bad day.
Curiously I’m the last to pick up on things like this as I have no real self body image and it can take me eons to notice what is obvous to others. Years ago though I then observed the redness problem and a trip to Boots equipped me with a cream that was said to aid facial redness. On further investigation the cream – which wasn’t cheap – turned out to be simply a green pigment that when rubbed into the skin it then toned down the rednes. I expected a remedy and this wasn’t it, so hey ho I forgot all about it and bingo it popped into my head again this morning with a eureka moment.
Eureka… flushing of face…. and neck….. and arms too, now hang on aren’t those all my bits and bobs that are exposed to direct sunlight. But I’m not out in the sun much unless you count driving….. so hang on wasn’t there a bit on that Horizon documentary a year or so ago where they measured lorry drivers faces for the adverse effects of sunlight on the right hand sides of their face (I’m in the UK so we sit on the right in a car… or lorry) so harmful sunlight (the UVB one I think if memory serves me right) can go through glass and damage a driver – like me – who can spent hours a day in a car (or runnnig for that matter).
So my redness may not be due to some tricky problem but something so straightforward as a bit of sunlight and the remedy is simply to lotion up. Hence I’m off to Boots this lunchie time for some protection… and maybe some suntan screen too 🙂
The Horizon documentary was pretty brilliant, if I can find the link I’ll post it up.
So apart from the flushing of face, I reckon that it’s responsible for my aging too, all those lines and crowsfeet are probably down to this, my bod’ is still looking great, so I’m screening up and gettting some moisturiser built in too. I need something none greasy which won’t make me even more shinier too.
Boots here I come, flushing of the face here you go.
