Nice long run
Something must have stirred in me this morning, or it could have been the energy bar I had, I managed to marmalise my last nine miler and do a really pretty good run. I got up in my own time, took some time to get ready and strolled out for my run, I thought that this was a good way to start as I’d just started my two week holiday from work and so why bother with hustling and bustling to the run start. I’m beginning to make half decent times too so I thought too that I wouldn’t be likely to be embarrassing myself in front of the Saturday morning Seaton running fraternity too. The bar I had for the record was a Nestle PowerBar Energise Berry Blast, a bit chewy but sporting an ample 199 kcals of powerrrrrrr. It was my only option as digging through the cupboard there were only two energy drinks in there, both being over the expiration date, yeah I know how can sugary water go out of date, well looking at one it looked decidedly weird and I didn’t want to punctuate my two weeks of holiday with a wobbly tummy so I opted for the PowerBarrrrrr.
The running weather wasn’t bad, a bit dull and sunny at the same time, a nastyish headwind to contend with on the way out and harsh sunlight to weaken the spirit (with no windy cooling) on the way back. The last lap though conjured up some clouds so it wasn’t so bad though I was only toddling along at that point. Toddling along then though but rather speedy at the start, I managed to pull out and average of sub 8 minutes on my first three lengths for the average overall pace, which was pretty splendid, it did reduce down but it was a very fast run in comparison to my previous one and no slouch against my historic runs either.
Managed to pass a girl who was running surprisingly fast and three girls running pretty slowly. Lots of people out and lots of hellos said but not many returned.
Oh and take a look at my vitals this week, something has happened due to me mixing up the running and the 5:2 diet, I’m actually losing weight and dropping a bit of my stomach. AT LAST….
