This took some self-discipline
Staying at my parents and I awoke at five in the morning….
Despite only five or six hours sleep the night before and getting to bed a one this morning I felt surprisingly fresh.
Sitting in bed I decided I needed to go for a run, really this isn’t typical of me, I’m no superhero runner but sometimes the urge does take me. I like running in private and if I can muster the energy then early early morning is usually my preferred time to go out. Throw into the bargain that the air is fresh and there’s little traffic around too and you have my idea of good running territory.
Luckily I’d packed some running clobber so I dressed for a cold morning and headed out into the rising sun.
Again it was one of my first runs in ages so I wasn’t breaking any records but I did seem to set a fair pace. My watch was out of puff – again – so I can’t say for certain how well it went but it didn’t seem too bad.
Lovely morning too, the sun was coming up and it was all bright and shiny. Almost not a soul around too, some drivers on the coast road and one man with a dog on getting back but apart from this it was all pretty soulless.
I stretched out to cool down in the early morning sun, which is always a bit of a treat, I let myself back into the house, I had a quick shower, shave and teeth clean and then off back to bed for a wonderful hour and a bit of brilliant post run and scrub sleep.
The best kind of sleep.
