From square one
Starting out again from square one.
I did a run the other weekend but nothing exceptional. I’ve been hitting the cigarettes again and after a really promising start to running again I succumbed and started smoking again.
I’ve now managed over two weeks without a ciggie but my running times have really suffered. I’m however really going for it this time, I’ve got a target of a potential festival in the middle of the summer to go to so my aim is to get really fit for that.
I’m back on the 5:2 diet, I have a good sensible set of supplements that I’m now taking, I’m rowing and I’m just about to step up the running. This second run after my latest bout with the evil weed isn’t too bad at all, I’ve picked up my pace quickly in only a week, that week being littered with at least three 20 minute spells on the rower which really do help tone up the whole of the body. The 5:2 diet is working well too, I’d managed to slip back to over 11 stones and now I’m back under that despite all the muscle I think I might have already laid on from the rower.
Anyway a good morning of running.
Busy though as Izzi’s Mum put me in a bit of a spot, she’d gone to her Mum’s and although she told me “she had a busy day ahead” she wasn’t happy about getting up a bit early to drop Izzi around mine – which is on her way. I had to trek into the countryside so as she could have a sleep in, which is a bit annoying as I only have two days off a week whereas she doesn’t work and I could have done with a teeny bit more sleep for a change. Still the fact that it added 50 minutes to drive didn’t phase me, as I had another two hours of driving to look forward to that day. Anyway I picked up Izzi, picked up my Mum, got changed into my running gear and dropped them both off at my Aunt Jennies and headed for Seaton.
Seaton was lovely, the sea was twinkling in the sunlight and I was up against a slight headwind on the way out but helped by it on the way back. I didn’t push too hard but I did get good time considering it was only the second run after a long lay off for smoking which was proceeded by another short spell of running after a similar venture into the dark side of the fags.
Life’s looking up and I’m already feeling really good on my mix of fitness methods. Actually forgot to mention it but I’m also trying to get my fill of 4 litres of fluids a day, which again seems to be helping lots.
