38 days 15 hours without a cigarette.
Well it doesn’t seem to be so tough now, I know that when I normally lapse it’s usually when I have a major problem. Well so far I’ve had lots of problems and so far I’ve managed to steer clear of the ciggies. It’s really not been much trouble at all.
I dabbled with the patches at the start but I quickly came off them and now I’m completely nicotine free and everything seems fine. I’ve even managed to keep my weight stable, the 5:2 diet really works and hand in hand with giving up cigarettes I have found I not only can keep the weight down but I can drop weight too.
I have been a bit edgy at times, I have been a bit ranty at times, but no more than before, in fact I would say that I’ve been my best behaved, ever, after knocking the old smokies on the head.
I think my skin is looking much better now, my hair feels less wiry, my lungs seem to have turned back from being a rocky foul place to a much more pleasant pinky wonderland (well pink might be exaggerating). I reckon I could be on my way to a long spell off the smokes and a much healthier outlook.
My hands still seem nasty and aged though, I still have stained teeth but so much has recovered it’s pretty much like overcoming some terrible disease, perhaps that’s the size of it, I hope that I’ve dodged a bullet.
I may be off to a festival in the next couple of weeks, that’ll be a big test, but hey I think I’m up for it.
